Having my own podcast for the past few years, I know first-hand that podcast hosts are always looking for people with great stories in their niche to interview and highlight for their listeners. Using that knowledge, it’s not hard to deduce that other podcast hosts would be receptive to having me on as a guest that can share from my deep well of blogging advice (and growing a six-figure blog business). Being a guest on several podcasts like Tropical MBA recently, I’ve mastered this channel for how to drive traffic to your blog.

Here’s my thinking on why I give away templates like this that other people charge for. I’m in this for the long haul, and I’m willing to forego some small revenue today, in order for me to build stronger relationships (and provide more value) to new bloggers—and be the first person they think of when they’re ready to take their blogs to the next level and join a blogging course of mine like Built to Blog. So, there’s no need for me to charge for simple template, because I know that giving them away for free is a great way to drive traffic to your blog—and building a community of people excited about what I have expertise in, I’m positioned to win in the long-term.

It may seem a bit overwhelming to think about teaching an online course if you’ve never done it before, but you can boil this down to one simple question: what does your audience already want to know? Tackle it from the same angle as any of your articles, comments, or blog content by providing useful and in-depth content that your audience wants in the form of videos, written lectures and interviews with thought leaders in the space.


The whole challenge was an exercise in connecting with my community and showing that it can be simple to build the foundation of a business, no matter what that business is (they chose a hiking guide for California, by the way), but it also served to generate interest and drive traffic to my blog, to see how the heck I was going to pull that off. Plus as an added bonus, I began fielding offers for both freelance and remote jobs as a result.

So many great tips! There are a couple of things I’ve implemented recently to try and boost traffic. One is to make a pdf version of my post that people can download. It’s a great way to build a list:) Another way is to make a podcast out of my post. I can then take a snippet of it and place it on my Facebook page as well as syndicate it. As far as video I’ve started to create a video with just a few key points from the post. The suggestion about going back to past articles is a tip I am definitely going to use especially since long-form content is so important. Thanks!
If your site already has a high domain authority (DA), you don’t have to worry about this step. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, domain authority is a search engine ranking score that ranges from 1 to 100, and it predicts how well the site will rank in result pages—it’s based on age, popularity, and size. Your brand-new blog will have a ranking around 1 (sorry), while Facebook has a ranking of 99. As you get bigger and better, your DA score will get higher.
On another note, we recently went through this same process with an entire site redesign.  The executive team demanded we cut out over 75% of the pages on our site because they were useless to the visitor.  It's been 60 days since the launch of the new site and I've been able to still increase rankings, long-tail keywords, and even organic traffic.  It took a little bit of a "cowboy" mentality to get some simple things done (like using 301's instead of blocking the old content with robots.txt!).  I predicted we would lose a lot of our long tail keywords...but we haven't....yet!

Check out usability.gov’s description of personas and how to do task analysis & scenarios for more details, or better yet, read Vanessa Fox’s upcoming book about personas related to search and conversion.


This was all free information I found online in less than an hour, that gives me some great ideas for content, partnerships and potential tools to build into my site to be relevant and useful to my target audience. Of course this is just some quick loose data, so I'll emphasize again: be careful where your data comes from (try to validate when possible), and think about how to use your data wisely.
Forums: If your business specializes in a specific area, you may want to find out if there are online forums dedicated to your industry of practice. Not only will this give you a place to engage in conversation with other interested parties, it’s great place to drop a link to your website. You’ll want to do this with relevancy and tact, otherwise you will come off as a spammer, but you get the idea. Speaking of forums, you can easily add one to your website with Wix Forum.
I read all the words in your post. To believe me I read “generated generated” words two times at step 3. Okay lets come to point. I believe that I’m producing the right content and that too related to niches. When I started my blog, I’ve already made a list of influential bloggers started following them. I produce the hot/trending content in market and I share every post of all them, but in return I receive a 5% of output towards it. I get interact with each others and don’t know why new comers like me getting struggle for a reply from influencers ? … In most cases is same. Is that they are consider about their followers ? / they have enough/more sales or business?.
Make it easy to dive deep into your site: As an expert in your industry, you should share your knowledge and insight with others. Not only is this valuable for your readers, but it provides a great opportunity for you to advertise your business within a blog. Make sure the process for a reader to access your website from your blog is effortless. Add links to other pages (your store page, for example) within your article to keep the reader on your website.
How we use Canva: The optimized sizes and built-in templates make it fast and easy to create tall pictures for Pinterest, rectangular ones for Twitter, square for Facebook or Instagram, and any size in between. We find Pablo (another free alternative) to be great for Twitter-sized images of 1,024 pixels by 512 pixels, and Canva to work really well for all else.
