Sorry for the long comment, I just am really happy to see that after all those years of struggle you finally made a break through and you definitely deserve it bro. I’ve had my own struggles as well and just reading this got me a little emotional because I know what it feels like to never wanting to give up on your dreams and always having faith that one day your time will come. It’s all a matter of patience and learning from failures until you get enough experience to become someone who can generate traffic and bring value to readers to sustain long term relationships.
In a very crowded, noisy space – entrepreneurs and small business owners with a ton of “experts and influencers.” How do I get “above the noise?” I have built up a great brand and, I think, some great content based on a boatload of practical, real-life experience. I also have some products and services that I’m trying to sell, but I remain, “all dressed up, with no place to go.” Thoughts?
Website traffic is the lifeblood of every online business. More visitors to your website means more potential customers seeing your products. The more people you get in front of, the more sales you can generate. So driving more traffic to a site is really a no-brainer for most businesses, but what are the best ways to do it in 2018? Here are five of the most effective ways you can boost traffic with minimal effort.
Unbounce platform has been designed with the focus on creating, publishing and measuring your campaigns without any coding. With Unbounce you can send traffic to a promotion specific landing page to increase conversions. It lets you send the leads and data to the most popular CRM platforms. Unbounce comes with landing page, popup, and sticky bar templates that you can use to reflect your brand and capture new leads.

However, like we talked about at the beginning, this is not a comprehensive list of everything you should be doing to drive traffic to your blog today. You should be testing out the strategies that you think could work well in your blog niche—and if one does work, put a lot of energy into getting as much traffic from the channel as possible (until it doesn’t work anymore).

Hi Brian! Very good and exactly what I was looking for. I have a problem though, we are creating the first video editing software that edits video WHILE FILMING. We are video geeks with a lot of experience, however we are trying to appeal to GoPro users and video tutorial makers but we have little knowledge in that field. Any suggestions on how we write about that if we have no idea about the space?
Thanks for the very, very in-depth article. I am a real estate agent in Miami, Florida and have been blogging all-original content for the past 21 months on my website and watched traffic increase over time. I have been trying to grow my readership/leads/clients exponentially and have always heard about standard SEO backlink techniques and writing for my reader, not influencers. Recently, I have had a few of my articles picked up and backlinked by 2 of the largest real estate blogs in the country, which skyrocketed visits to my site. Realizing what I wrote about, that appealed to them, and now reading your article, I am going to continue writing in a way that will leverage those influencers to help me with quality backlinks.
So many great tips! There are a couple of things I’ve implemented recently to try and boost traffic. One is to make a pdf version of my post that people can download. It’s a great way to build a list:) Another way is to make a podcast out of my post. I can then take a snippet of it and place it on my Facebook page as well as syndicate it. As far as video I’ve started to create a video with just a few key points from the post. The suggestion about going back to past articles is a tip I am definitely going to use especially since long-form content is so important. Thanks!
I’m considering a niche that I’m not sure I can find good influencers for – fundraising. School fundraising or charitable fundraising. I’m passionate about it but how would I get my articles shared by influencers? The non-profit sector is somewhat apprehensive about promoting commercial sites, unless it’s fundraising software. The name really says it all: “non”-profit.

The good news though, is that the people are already there for consuming content related to their niche (and learning more), so if your blog can genuinely help them, you’re bound to find a receptive audience—and once you’ve learned how to drive traffic to your website from groups, it’s a perfect opportunity to get targeted subscribers to take the next step and join your email list. Offer a free piece of content in return for their email address, ask them to sign up for your newsletter, or leverage live chat software to engage with them directly on the page.
Great article. My site has been up for several years now but I rebranded and switched from Blogger to WordPress about a year ago because I was told the reason why my traffic is so low is because I was using the wrong platform. I still haven’t seen an increase in my traffic and am very frustrated. I write in the health, fitness and parenting niche and I have over 30 experts that write for me, but I still don’t have the page views I would like. My paychecks are small and I am very frustrated. How do I find out what influencers in my niche are talking about and what they would like to share? I read tons of blogs, but most of them just review products or write about their kids, not a whole lot of similar articles. Where do I begin to find sharable content in my niche?
Traditionally, defining a target audience involves determining their age, sex, geographic locations, and especially their needs (aka pain points). Check out usability.gov’s description of personas and how to do task analysis & scenarios for more details, or better yet, read Vanessa Fox’s upcoming book about personas related to search and conversion.
YouTube is a great resource for driving free organic traffic to your website. Maybe it's because Google loves YouTube, and considering that it's the second most popular search engine in the world, gaining exposure on YouTube could be huge. Create useful tutorials and videos that add an immense amount of value and be sure to link to your content through the description.

Affiliate programs allow you to boost traffic by leveraging other people’s audiences. By offering publishers a commission on sales they generate, you’re incentivizing positive reviews and word of mouth. Best of all, you only pay out when a genuine sale is made, meaning there’s minimal risk involved. Once your affiliate program is set up, you can leave it on autopilot and focus on other areas of your business. To get started, leverage a list of the best affiliate programs and decide which one is right for you.
Pay-per-click (PPC) is one of the most commonly used marketing techniques to effectively market and sell products. But it takes a lot of efforts to design an effective ad copy and select the right audience to target and display your ads. The following tools can help you with all aspects of Google Ads (Google AdWords) marketing to run a successful campaign and increase your sales.

This SEO tool will generate all possible combinations of two separate lists of search phrases. Find new ways to promote your website and reach your audience when you broaden your keyword horizons. Use these phrases to modify and create new content as well as to optimize title tags, URLs, and internal linking structure. For a new insight into your keyword prospects, generate combinations to kick-start the brainstorming process.
So, you finally finished your stunning website. That’s great. Now what? Well, the next step it to get people to actually come visit your website. For many small business owners, a website is an extension of their business itself, and for some (online stores), it is the actual business. After you’ve achieved a pixel-perfect website, it’s time to get to work and drive some traffic to it.

Later is a social media scheduling software, initially was developed for Instagram. However, you can also use it for Facebook and Pinterest. It helps you to plan, manage, and schedule your visual Instagram posts and marketing campaigns. This is honestly more than a post, Brian: it’s a treasure. I have already bookmarked it! The backlinks work pretty well for me: I started a travel blog 90 days ago and I’m glad that I could reach a DA of 12. I think that I’m gonna try the (shall I call it like this since I have a travel blog?) “Off the beaten path keyword” next. I already have an idea after reading your article, so I ‘ll try to write about it and implement ypur techniques.
If you’re looking for some extra help in the paid advertising field, you can add the Traffic Generator App to your Wix site. The app automatically sets up ad campaigns with Google and Bing. Plus, the intuitive algorithm automatically optimizes every campaign. The best part about it all? You don’t need any kind of marketing or online advertising knowledge to get started.
Want to see all of the images on a Web page along with their size, alt text, and a real-size display of the image? How about a list of all of your page links: external links, internal links, style sheets, XML, and other assets? Do you know which ones aren't working? Among our free SEO tools, this one is always popular for its multipurpose functionality!
2. Targeted Keyword Discovery: Ideally you’ll want to do keyword research based on what the audience wants, not solely on what content the site already has (or plans to have sans audience targeting), which may be limited. I can do keyword research on health conditions and drugs (content I have on my site) and determine what the general population is searching for and optimize my current content, or I can cast my net wide and look at what my target audience wants first, then do my keyword research. You may find there are needs that your site is not meeting. Knowing my senior audience is interested in primarily in prescription drug plans and cheap blood pressure medication, I can first make sure I’m providing that content, and then further determine the top keywords in these areas (in the next article Step 2), and use those terms in relevant and high visibility areas on my site.
Google Ads Editor is really a handy tool provided by Google to help you with certain PPC tasks. It is a free resource provided by the search engine giant that can help you with several bulk editing tasks of your Google Ads. It helps in increasing or lowering bids for a number of keywords, changing keyword match types on a large scale, copying entire campaigns to push to adCenter and more.
Like many SEOs, I was hired with one vague responsibility: to set up an SEO program and achieve results. Like many SEOs, we jumped right in and started spewing out SEO audits, rewriting title tags, offering up backlink suggestions, rewriting URLs and so on. And like many SEOs we promised results. But what we didn’t do, until that fateful launch, was develop a comprehensive strategy.
Thanks for your 2019 tips. As a startup business I’m researching heavily on all SEO matters and you’re giving me the confidence to succeed. Just one question if I may. I’m creating a platform that will have 50,000 pages… As it’s practically impossible to create backlinks to all individual pages, do backlinks count from the domain, for example blog posts. Thanks, Matt
This is one of my favorite ways to connect with other entrepreneurs like myself, chat with them, and usually learn quite a bit – I feature them on my podcast, The Side Hustle Project. I started the podcast as a way to feature thought leaders in my industry and learn about what it took for them to succeed in their side hustle – and it’s the perfect opportunity for content outreach too. When the podcast airs, most of them will share it with their audience, which is why this earns its spot as a top way I’ve learned how to drive traffic to your blog.
Hi, my name is Dimitrios and I am responsible for Crave Culinaire’s digital marketing. I would like to drive more traffic to Crave’s blog. Since Crave Culinaire is the only catering company who provides molecular cuisine, I thought about craving a blog post about that. The influencers in this niche have great success in utilizing recipes on their blogs. I will share some recipes of Brian Roland, owner and head chef of Crave Culinaire.

It used to be that Google AdPlanner was unbeatable for comparing audience size and dimension. That's been folded into AdWords as the Campaign Planner and now limited to media sites, but still useful for finding size and quality of audience for partner and media sites and don't forget about the related Google Placement Targeting Tool useful for remarketing and research.

Why not? When you skimp on tools, you hinder your marketing from getting better. So, regardless of whether you choose these specific tools or not, make it your goal to find tools that you use regularly. Better tools are equivalent to better marketing. Whatever the tool you choose, make sure that you understand it well and that it makes a measurable improvement on your marketing efforts.
This was very interesting. I run a website that promotes sports entertainment amongst teenagers who are graphic designers or video editors. The foundation is in place (Over 60 contributors) so my only focus is how to blog consistently about what goes on in the sports world with appeal to teenagers. I am confident i took a huge step today after learning these 4 steps!
ManyChat helps you to create Facebook Messenger chatbots easily for sales, marketing, and support. Its visual drag-and-drop bot-builder allows you to set up a Facebook Messenger bot in a very short time. It also provides you with a set of tools to help you grow your Messenger audience and it helps you broadcast your messages effectively. You can also automate your Messenger marketing and send messages based on time or certain user actions.
On another note, we recently went through this same process with an entire site redesign.  The executive team demanded we cut out over 75% of the pages on our site because they were useless to the visitor.  It's been 60 days since the launch of the new site and I've been able to still increase rankings, long-tail keywords, and even organic traffic.  It took a little bit of a "cowboy" mentality to get some simple things done (like using 301's instead of blocking the old content with robots.txt!).  I predicted we would lose a lot of our long tail keywords...but we haven't....yet!
Vidyard lets you create and manage your video library from a single dashboard. You can easily add your videos to the blog posts, landing pages of your website, emails or various social media profiles. It allows users to browse your videos by adding a custom playlist and helps you to measure the performance of your videos by conducting A/B split testing.

As someone who is just starting out in the passive income / digital products world. Do you have any advice for measuring whether your chosen niche will be a successful revenue generator early on? I don’t want to waste a ton of time and advertising dollars if my niche can’t replace my current 9-5 income. I have studied my competitors and I know that they are making six figures but they also got into the game much earlier and their niche is slightly different.

If you’ve been on LinkedIn recently, you’ll know that native video is killing it. However, long-form text posts with a clever hook do really well too. LinkedIn can be a great place to connect with others and engage on content that interests you, while posting about interesting a creative blog post ideas that you think your network will be interested in. In my experience though, if you wan to drive traffic to your blog from LinkedIn—you need to make sure your posts are link-free (in order to hit their algorithm just right), but you can leave a link to your blog content in the first comment as a reply to your posting.
If there’s something everyone loves, it’s free stuff. And contrary to popular belief amongst new entrepreneurs, giving away your ideas for free is not the worst thing you can do for your business–oftentimes, it can be the best thing. The right (free) template can drive traffic to your blog from organic search, word-of-mouth, social networks and even big publications. The trick, is to offer something your audience can truly benefit from. Take these examples into mind:
Filmora is one of the best video editing tools that helps you to create and edit your videos without any professional video editing skills. It allows you to add animations, GIFs, overlays, images, texts, and music on your videos. You can apply various styles, effects, and customize your videos as you need. Filmora is available for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS devices.

I’ve just taken the SEO role at my agency full time and, whilst it can be difficult at times, I am liking the challenge. I wonder if you had any suggestions when it came to finding “opportunity keywords” for term/subjects that don’t necessarily have massive search volumes associated to them? I use a few tools and utilise Google’s related terms already, but wondered if there were any tricks for finding new markets?

Historical refreshes of content is a good thing, especially if some of your content has expired. Note, this does not mean re-doing your content; simply refreshing it to bring it current if it isn't already evergreen content. Look at ways you can update outdated content on your site to drive more traffic through visibility on search engines like Google.

Thanks Brian. I’ve had a “a-ha” moment thanks to you! Great advice. I knew that backlinks would improve the organic SEO rankings to our client-targeted landing pages but I never knew it was through getting influencers to backlink blogs. I always just assumed it was great content that users wanted to share with others. It was driving me mad why people love my content but never share enough. Now I know!
Thank you Brian. I am so brand spanking new to all this and i am really struggling with understanding it all. I have tried to read so many thing to help my website and this was the first article to really make sense however Being an urban, street menswear online store i feel like my niche is too broad?.. Ahh Feel like I am drowning maybe I need to do your course! Thanks again for the read I will be doing a lot more thats for sure
